Calcium, Magnesium and Sodium: The Three BHB Salts
Three minerals carry BHB in Gelacept: calcium, magnesium and sodium. Here is what each one is and why they travel together.
What is a BHB salt?
A BHB salt is beta-hydroxybutyrate bound to a mineral. The mineral keeps BHB steady, so it can be measured accurately and made into a gummy.
Calcium: the bone mineral
Calcium is the most plentiful mineral in your body, and most of it is in bones and teeth. Good food sources are milk, yogurt, cheese and leafy greens.
Magnesium: the busy helper
Magnesium takes part in hundreds of processes in the body. Almonds, pumpkin seeds, spinach and beans are rich in it.
Sodium: the fluid balancer
Sodium helps balance body fluids and supports nerves and muscles. It is the mineral half of ordinary table salt.
Why use three?
Using three mineral partners spreads the BHB across calcium, magnesium and sodium, rather than leaning on one mineral. Together with apple cider vinegar they make a five-ingredient formula.*
